Tailor-made solutions for special transports

When the freight exceeds normal measurements, wider than 2.5 metres, higher than 2.8–3.0 metres, longer than 13.5 metres or heavier than the permissible weight limits, AT Special Transport is at your service. We plan each special transport according to our customer's specifications.

The longer, higher, wider, more sensitive or more difficult the transport – the more interesting the challenge is for us. There are no impossible projects for us at AT Special Transport.

Reactor

Finland

  • Height

    8,5 metres
  • Width

    8,5 metres
  • Weight

    25 tonnes

Sometimes the challenge for AT Special Transport lies in moving many large elements within a short time to a certain destination. In May 2010 eight reactors were transported from NCE (Nordpipe Composite Engineering), a company in Pietarsaari, which specialises in producing technical industrial plastics such as pipes and tanks, to the harbour in Pietarsaari. Every reactor weighed 25 tonnes, with a width and height of 8.5 metres.

Bridge Beam

Finland-Sweden

  • Length

    30 metres
  • Weight

    30 tonnes

From the autumn of 2010 to the spring of 2011, several bridge beams were transported from Ylivieska in Finland to Skee in Sweden for Rautaruukki. The bridge beams of 30 metres, weighed 30 tonnes and were transported on several types of extendable semi-low trailers. The six-axle semi-low trailer, which is part of the engine compound at AT Special Transport, has a maximum carrying capacity of 80 tonnes. The bridge beams of 30 tonnes were thus transported without difficulties. The special transport project included a total amount of 12 loadings.

Tank

Sweden

  • Diameter

    28 metres
  • Height

    17 metres
  • Weight

    200 tonnes

One of AT Special Transport's projects was the transfer of several tanks within a factory area in Gävle. The diameter of the largest tank was 28 metres, the height 17 metres and the weight about 200 tonnes The transport required extremely accurate, safe and synchronized driving, since the tanks were transported on two 40-metre long modular trailers. The special transport was carried out in July 2011.

Barge

Sweden-Finland

  • Length

    20 metres
  • Width

    5,6 metres
  • Weight

    46 tonnes

The transport of a 20-metre long barge weighing 46 tonnes, from Jokkmokk in Sweden to AT's transport link site in Naantali, gave AT Special Transport new challenges. However, the special transport was carried out excellently, on a three-axle semi-low extendable trailer and a five-axle extendable trailer, during only three days and with as many as 14 different transports.

Bridge

Finland-Sweden

  • Length

    20-30 mmetres
  • Width

    4,4-6 metres
  • Height

    3,1 metres
  • Weight

    38-72 tonnes

A special transport project concerning an entire bridge started in July 2011 and was completed in March 2012. The bridge was shipped in parts from Ylivieska to Motala, Sweden. This required 56 loads in total.

Containers

Oulu

  • Diameter

    23 metres
  • Width

    19 and 23 metres
  • Height

    15 metres
  • Weight

    100 tonnes

AT Special Transport received the next challenge in the summer of 2012. We were commissioned to transport two very wide (19 and 23 metres) containers to a customer in Oulu. For this transportation, we needed two vehicles – side by side. In addition to safety and diligence, creativity is often needed when carrying out a special transport so that we can ensure that even the most special requirements of our customers can be met efficiently.

Flue gas scrubber

Finland-Sweden

  • Length

    28,5 metres
  • Height

    6,65 metres
  • Weight

    43 tonnes

Transporting flue gas scrubbers from Finland to Sweden required a detailed plan and special arrangements. In May and June 2012 an exit gas scrubber was transported from the NCE factory in Pietarsaari to the E.ON power plant in Linköping, Sweden. The planning for the transportation took three months and there were numerous challenges. The biggest challenge was going under a bridge in Sweden where there were only 15 centimetres between the bridge and the load. In order to avoid any risks, we decided to move the exit gas scrubber, 28.5 metres long and 6.65 metres high, by cargo ship instead of going under the bridge. We delivered the scrubber to its destination without any problems, and AT Special Transport was ready for the next challenge.
